El otro día recuperé de mi filmoteca That Thing You Do! (The Wonders, en España), película dirigida por Tom Hanks y protagonizada por Tom Everett Scott, Liv Tyler, Johnathon Schaech, Steve Zahn, Ethan Embry, Charlize Theron y el propio Hanks.

Last nite, after a long time, I saw That Thing You Do! (I think I've seen it hundreds of times). This film is directed by Tom Hanks and starring by Tom Everett Scott, Liv Tyler, Johnathon Schaech, Steve Zahn, Ethan Embry, Charlize Theron and Hanks himself.

Para las que no la hayáis visto, el filme transcurre en los años 60 y cuenta la historia de un grupo de chicos que, de la noche a la mañana, conquistan las listas de éxitós y se convierten en la sencación musical del momento en todo Estados Unidos.

For those who haven' t seen it, the film takes place in the 60's and tells the story of a group of kids that,all at once, conquered the charts and become the musical sensation across the States.


Con estos ingredientes ¿cómo no iba a gustarme? La caracterización de las localizaciones y de los personajes, el vestuario, el cásting y (cómo no) su banda sonora. La verdad es que el tema principal, la canción con la que estos cuatro muchachos de Erie (Pensilvania) llegaron a lo más alto es pegadiza, divertida y muy bailable. Y por eso la película optó al Oscar y al Globo de Oro a la Mejor Canción Original en el año 1997.

With all these, isn't it great!? The locations, the costume deign, the casting, and (of course) its soundtrack. The truth is that the main theme, that made these guys from Erie (Pennsylvania.) reached to the top it's really catchy, fun and danceable. And so the film opted for an Oscar and Golden Globe for Best Original Song in 1997.
